Today is my final day of the 3 Days, 3 Quotes Challenge! Thanks again to Wandering Words for nominating me.
Day 3’s quote is from The Moonstone by Wilkie Collins, generally considered to be the beginning of the modern mystery/detective genre:
We had our breakfasts—whatever happens in a house, robbery or murder, it doesn’t matter, you must have your breakfast.
Breakfast—it’s the most important meal of the day. Two of the things I love most about the Victorian era are its obsession with the occult and its obsession with manners and custom. The quote above is said by Betteredge, the head servant, the morning after the precious moonstone diamond is stolen from the house. Despite the whole household being in chaos and suspicions beginning to spread amongst its members, Betteredge insists on maintaining the usual daily routine with dignity and decorum. Much like Betteredge, I am a huge fan of the first meal of the day, and don’t like to skip my breakfast.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this as much as I have! Feel free to nominate me for future challenges. I loved having and excuse to force myself to blog more than once a week. Although, I admit, it was kind of tough….
